Delton's new book examines corporate integration policies

Jennifer Delton
Racial Integration in Corporate America 1940-1990 is the
title of a new book by Jennifer Delton, associate professor of history.
Published in October by Cambridge University Press, the book examines how executives and managers promoted fair employment and equal employment opportunity in the workplace long before it was a federal
mandate. Eric Arnesen of
George Washington University notes, "Jennifer Delton has waded boldly into
controversial territory with her provocative and important study. Approaching workplace integration from
a novel perspective, she breaks new ground, provides much food for thought, and
adds considerably to our understanding of civil rights and economics in the 20th
century."
A member of the Skidmore faculty since 1997, Delton earned a Ph.D. degree in history at Princeton. She is also the author of Making Minnesota Liberal: Civil Rights and the Transformation of the Democratic Party (Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 2002), and several articles about race, politics, and management and business.
