|Skidmore’s annual Winter Carnival Weekend featured such fan-friendly events as the 20th annual National College Comedy Festival; a production of The Vagina Monologues, which has become a traditional favorite; and a bonfire with fireworks on opening night.
Hosted by the freshman class with help from the officers of the three older classes, Winter Carnival Weekend offers the chance to celebrate the season with activities both in and outside. The comedy festival—which featured visiting comedy groups from 18 other colleges and universities—saw the return of festival founder David Miner ’91 and a performance by Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows. It was sponsored by Skidmore comedy group the Ad-Liberal Artists.
A cappella singing was a highlight of the bonfire and fireworks that helped to kick off the weekend. Other activities included a snowman building contest, movies, and a Valentine’s Day Dance to wrap up the weekend celebration.
