Majors
Minimal requirements for a major in religious studies are the general college requirements, plus completion of nine courses, seven of which must be selected from the religion offerings (RE or PR), and must include , , and . fulfills the writing requirement in the major. The remaining two courses may be chosen from RE or PR offerings or may be selected from a list of courses from other disciplines that has been authorized by the religion faculty. At least one course must be taken about (1) an Abrahamic religion (Judaism, Christianity, or Islam) and one course about (2) non-Abrahamic religions (such as, but not limited to, Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Daoism, or an indigenous tradition). At least five of the total courses for the major must be at the 300 level with at least two at the 300 level taken in the senior year, one of which must be in religion. Courses must total at least thirty credit hours and should ideally represent, in a way to be determined in consultation with the faculty advisor, a genuine diversity of traditions.
